Some sporadic thoughts on fear

What is that overwhelming emotion that seems to engulf us from the very surface of earth? An emotion that creates a sense of total helplessness that stares at you mockingly. A faceless villain whom you have absolutely no idea how to tackle...

I must confess right at this juncture that I belong to the generation , i feel, that would never experience fear in its truest form, but i do admit that the feeling nevertheless still very much exists and by no means do i attempt to belittle anyone's feeling of fear

If we take a quick deep dive into the times before civilization, I feel that fear was then an emotion that could be equated to an actual great probability of losing one's life, of being attacked and killed , or of being a victim of extreme climatic conditions. So i feel that fear at that time was felt in its truest form, rawest form.

But as civilization slowly took place, the reasons for fear began to change. Fears that never existed before , started to haunt us at night. The metamorphosis of this emotion as a result of the many many inventions that came into our world truly intrigues me. Our lives may have become more cozy as a result of this modernization and advent of modern equipment, but where does that leave us as humans in the context of inner strength and bravery ?

If we begin to introspect and see for ourselves how strong , bold and brave we really feel in today's world , many a truth may come out of it. Somewhere during this introspection one may surely find that to a large extent , this is a trap that we have beautifully built for ourselves, a web artistically woven all by our own kind.

But , hey , come on , let us face it that no one enjoys dwelling in the emotion of fear, but neither would we dream of shattering our castles of independence and begin to live a life in a cocoon, so cut off from the wild and free world.

So , i urge you to think here... What is that mantra that would help us strike the right balance , help us grow into increasingly fearless human beings ? Or is that too much to ask?
